Recipient of $1,000 towards their Summer Literacy Program. The program is aimed at children and youth ages 5 – 14 years, promoting literacy, recreation, and activity in young people over July and August. The program will run once a week and offer activities, reading books, crafts, science experiments and games to all participants.

Recipient of $3,000 towards their community engagement and education initiative. With the anticipated relocation to a new building in town, public engagement and education about the role of Search & Recue will be a regular activity of the association.

Recipient of $2679 towards their Soccer Canada Grass Roots Coaching project. The local association will host Respect in Sport training, Grassroots Soccer Coach training and Referee training for local coach and referee volunteers. The association has 160 local children and youth registered as soccer participants this season.

Recipient of $1,000 towards their new transportation initiative to support women requiring a safe transportation option in our rural area communities. Fireweed has been helping women and children fleeing domestic violence since 1995 to rebuild lives and break free of the cycle of violence.

Recipient of $2500 towards their racing bib project. The Caledonia Classic Sled Dog races attract race teams and visitors from all over the world, yet also focuses on youth, safe trails, and growing recreation opportunities. All racers require a racing bib and the association is in need of replacing and increasing the number of bibs. The Caledonia Classic Sled Dog races have been an event running for over 25 years, unique in BC and especially Fort St. James

Recipient of $3000 towards their kitchenette upgrade. Connexus supports children, youth and families in mental health, life skills and family connections. Cooking activities are often a part of therapy for all ages. Updating the kitchenette will offer a new dedicated space for these activities.

Recipient of $1321 towards their land-based health and wellness project. The project will see the creation of a naturalized garden of local edible and medicinal plants in newly created garden beds at the Fort St. James campus.

Recipient of a 2022 Schoolhouse grant of $500 for their student wellness room. The grant allowed purchase of fidget calming tools for the wellness room that will help student destress and emotionally reset.

Recipient of a 2022 Schoolhouse grant of $500 for their student and family outreach event at the school. The event brought together students, their families and various stakeholders to reconnect after two years of pandemic isolation. The event included food, games, prizes and was a great success!
