Congratulations Brynn Kitchen

Brynn successfully auditioned for a placement at the Perry Mansfield Performing Arts Camp in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, USA which ran June 16 - June 6, 2022!

Perry Mansfield Performing Arts Camp was an excellent experience for me. Camp was really fun! I made an excessive amount of new friends who I am still speaking to regularly over our new group chat. I learned so much about the performing arts. I had singing lessons, tap and modern dance lessons, acting lessons, and rhythm studies! Every day started at 6:30 am, and after breakfast and camp chores the lessons began. They ran until lunch, and then started again right after - going til 4:30 in the afternoon. Performance and parade practice happened until dinner, and then more performance practice went until 8:30 pm in the evening.

I auditioned successfully for the role of Grandma in my group’s performance of The Addams Family. The role was comedic, and this was my first comedic character. I really got to engage the audience and enjoyed getting loud laughs. I also had the best props out of all the characters! My director noticed I perfected the voice, the walk, and hunched back of the 102 year old character. He also appreciated that I studied hard and knew all my lines well and quickly.

I feel I was an ambassador for Fort St. James as I talked about Canada and Fort St. James ALL the time. I told all my friends how beautiful Fort is, especially the lake, the mountains and the sunsets. I passed out tons of pins and tattoos so that we could all celebrate Canada day - the first Canada day for everybody in Colorado. I also was a big part of the camp’s 4th of July parade which we took to the town of Steamboat Springs. Mom even FaceTimed one day, and my friends and my Mom sang O Canada together.

Thank you so much for the grant. It made it a lot easier to get to camp and have such a great experience.

Sincerely,

Brynn Kitchen.
