2015 Grant Winners

The Fort St. James Community Foundation is pleased to present the 2015 Grant Recipients.

Leiha Constantine $1,000.00- Leiha is entering her 2nd year of studies toward a Respiratory Therapy Diploma at NAIT in Edmonton.

Tl’azt’en First Nation $1,500.00- Tl’azt’en’s Youth Project is to provide youth in the Tl’azt’en community the opportunity to learn the skill of building a wooden boat.

Music Makers $2,000.00-To contribute toward the purchase of a head set system to provide communication between stage crews. The equipment will be used to support the Youth Theatre Project-Collective Creations Theatre which will be run in September 2015 as well as future performances.

Our Lady of the Snows Parish, Social Outreach Program $1,000.00- Funds will support social outreach initiatives of the Parish, especially transportation costs for community members who wish to partake in wellness activities and transportation costs for personnel to be present with people that need support while in prison, hospital or remote communities.

Stuart Lake Outreach Society $1,000.00-Grant will support the society’s mandate to provide free, nutritious food to the homeless, needy or lonely, with the goal of temporarily alleviating poverty and promoting empowerment and build self-esteem.

Stuart Lake Seniors Association $2,000.00-Funds will support the transportation costs of the Seniors Helping Seniors program, where seniors volunteer their time to provide transportation to other seniors for social and health needs. The program aims to address the isolation and barriers seniors can face in small northern communities.

Stuart Lake Golf Club $600.00-Grant funds will be used to purchase a new vacuum cleaner, to improve cleanliness and reduce workload in order to provide a clean and well cared for community recreational facility.

Healthy Minds Community Garden $1,200.00- Grant will support the creation of an organic community garden. The garden will produce fresh, organic food for participants and local charities and provide a safe space for all people, to build community, reduce isolation and allow people to participate in a healthy activity.
